Categories :: General Discussion :: Question about stop loss

Stop losses cannot be automatically changed.

The stop loss is what is built into each unique strategy.

Each would have to be changed manually, although, you can elect to receive an email whenever any new positions are entered.

This can be done through the account management settings.

From one of our users:

Is there a way to change the stops losses for different systems other than doing it manually each time?

I want to be able to set the stop losses at less so it does it automatically rather than having to do each one individually, otherwise I have to keep checking to see when a trade has been placed and go in and change it manually each time.

Just to let everyone know, Sam is busy with a variety of things. He's going to be on the road for one, so the Online Trading Classroom will NOT be held for the next two weeks. We'll return with the OTC's on Monday, May 18.

---

In the meantime, it's been a great past week of trading, and we'll take an example of today.

Aequillibrium GBP/USD has had five closed trades, and won four of them for a total profit of 130+ pips. Take into account the fact that this strategy executes six contracts (lots) with each trade and you can multiply the pips by six.

It's been a profitable strategy for the handful of live SystemTraderFX traders today (yes that's today).

This is a short-term strategy that, if added to your portfolio, you should keep an eye on because occasionally a big loss is incurred. Generally the rule of thumb seems to be to not allow a drawdown to extend that much past 100 pips.

---

Now that's a general rule of thumb, not gospel. At the end of the day you should come to your own conclusions.

Also, take a look at our latest blog post - How Much Should You Open A Live Account With?

Happy trading all, and if you have any questions, please let us know!

Categories :: Weekly Wrap :: Weekly Live Tips (Jan. 21)

**We've received requests from SystemTraderFX Demo Traders to receive the weekly tips emails that Live traders are receiving. For the time being just so demo traders are aware of what is being sent out, these emails will also be sent to demo traders on a one week delayed basis. So, the following is the tips email that was sent out last Wednesday**

Before we start, we'd like to share the recording of Monday night's (Jan. 26) Online Trading Classroom. Click on: http://breeze.tradingpostfinancial.com/p75323689/.

Now, let's review last week's highlighted strategy before we share this week's.

DB Swing: EUR/USD
This was a lightly traded strategy this past week. There were two closed trades, one winner for +200 pips and one loser for -85 pips for a total profit of +115 pips. There are currently three open positions, though, (two short, one long) so we??™ll see how those pan out.

As an added bonus, we??™ll go back two weeks...
WANG-China: EUR/USD
Talk about consistency. Two weeks ago, we presented WANG-China. The first week after our initial Live Trading Insight email it made +160 pips. This past week it banked another +160 pips for a two week total of +320 pips.

So in two weeks the two systems we??™ve shared has shown a +435 pip profit. Onto the strategy that??™s in our crosshairs this week.

-----

Strategy Focus of the Week

TrendEscape: CHF/JPY
This is a strategy that is meant to perform well in trending markets. It is a non-performer in range-bound markets. Suffice to say we??™ve seen some strong trends across all currency pairs and this is one that is no exception. Its January performance has been exceptional. Just be aware of how many positions this strategy executes at any one time.

----

TRADING TIP:

Perception isn??™t always reality. Historically the GBP/JPY strategies seem to be the most profitable, if you go solely by the system performance figures. But don??™t let it mislead you.

There can be wild swings of gains AND losses that you have to endure. Most of these highly volatile GBP/JPY strategies aren??™t for the faint of heart and can quickly liquidate a small account.

If you??™re going to wade into such a strategy go in well armed with a sizable account enough to withstand the risk, and your eyes wide open to riding things out for the long-term. On the other hand you can choose to focus on less profitable strategies (with lesser risk) that have more consistent results.

----

**As a live trader you receive these emails for free. Those who are trading accounts with balances exceeding $25,000 receive one-on-one strategy consultation with a trading partner at SystemTraderFX.

Yours in Autotrading,

The SystemTraderFX Team

**We've received requests from SystemTraderFX Demo Traders to receive the weekly tips emails that Live traders are receiving. For the time being just so demo traders are aware of what is being sent out, these emails will also be sent to demo traders on a one week delayed basis. So, the following is the tips email that was sent out last Wednesday**

Let's review last week's highlighted strategy before we share this week's.

Put simply, if you would have added Wang-China:EUR/USD to your portfolio when you received the email a week ago, you would have earned 160 pips through the time of this email.

If you would have added it when this first appeared on our radar in last week's Online Trading Classroom, you would have picked up 214 pips.

If you would like the full spreadsheet of the trades sent to you, please respond to this thread.

Long term, this strategy isn't setting an ideal foundation. It relies on many small winners and it's largest losses are greater than its largest wins.

But for the short-term it has proven to be adequetely profitable - but giving it too long of a leash is probably not in your best interests.

-----

Strategy Focus of the Week

DB Swing: EUR/USD
This week our focus is a on a swing strategy that has demonstrated above average risk/reward. This system trades 2 - 3 times a week on average and only enters one position per trade. Active since the Summer of 2008, it sets a stop-loss of 85 pips and targets 200 pips.

TRADING TIP: Look for strategies that have demonstrated proper risk/reward as the foundation of your portfolio. The key is look for bigger wins than losses. It sounds logical, but many traders are seduced by the most misleading statistic of all - win percentage.

**As a live trader you receive these emails for free. Those who are trading accounts with balances exceeding $25,000 receive one-on-one strategy consultation with a trading partner at SystemTraderFX.

Yours in Autotrading,

The SystemTraderFX Team

Categories :: General Discussion :: Latest Enhancements to SystemRunner!

One of the most significant changes to the New Platform is being implemented right now. It will add additional functionality to the trading interface and allow you to access more of the information to control your auto trading.

More on this will be forth coming this week, and we'll create a non-sticky thread where we can have a discussion and dialogue on it.

**If you currently have a demo account, the important thing is that you can use the old link (currently on the SystemRunner website as the Login link) to access your account until it expires. When you open a new account, it will be with the new interface. Once you login, you will be confronted with a screen about the new interface but just bypass that manually until your demo account expires.

If you have a LIVE account it will be transferred over the the new interface immediately.

We hope you’re enjoying a great 2009 so far.

We’ll make this update short and just let you know that the SystemRunner Online Trading Classrooms are back online tonight! It is held at 9 p.m. Pacific Time, so there is just less than four hours to go.

There is a lot to get caught up on and we’ll look at the performance of our demo portfolio, also, and see if and how we can adjust it.

---

You can access the room for free by following the steps below for now.

STEP 1:
Login to your user account with our partner Trading Post Financial Services - http://www.tradingpostfinancial.com/ser … ex/login/. (If you do not have a FREE user account, click on Create an Account on the right side of the screen).

STEP 2:
After you login to the Client Services Portal, scroll down to “My Services.” Select the “Online Trading Rooms” tab.

STEP 3:
Click on the SystemRunner icon. The room will launch.

-----

Demo Portfolio Performance

It is true that the SystemRunner Demo Portfolio was active on all trading days during the holiday break. So whatever your circumstance, if you were trading with a SystemRunner portfolio, you quite possibly could have been in the market, but with your loved ones at the same time.

The performance in general leaves a little to be desired, but one thing to keep in mind is that since Dec. 15 when the six strategies to the portfolio were added together, we have left the portfolio untouched. Usually as an active manager you might adjust some things on a daily or weekly basis.

Overall (Based on 1 lot trades) for period 12/15 – 01/05 (Today)
119 Overall Trades
73 Winners
46 Losses
61% Win Rate

Profit: $197 USD
Pips: -28

Since our last email on Dec. 29, our profit has fallen, and there are reasons for that we will share in our room tonight.

For a complete breakdown, download the attached excel spreadsheet.

Hope to see you there. As always, subscribe to the SystemRunner forum RSS feed for SystemRunner updates.

Yours in Autotrading,

The SystemRunner Team

As mentioned in the most recent Weekly Wrap, a few members of the SystemRunner Online Trading Classroom created a demo portfolio.

Of the three contributors, they each selected two strategies. After two weeks, the simple statistics are below.

Overall, the six chosen strategies are profitable, although there is a wide range in performance of strategies chosen. Remember, if you are a live account trader with SystemRunner or attend our weekly online classroom session, you will know exactly what strategies have been chosen!

Overall (Based on 1 lot trades) for period 12/15 – 12/26
53 Overall Trades
41 Winners
12 Losses
77% Win Rate

Profit: $405 USD
Pips: 120

Performance in short:
Samuel: 903 pips
Henry: -203 pips
Daniel: -580 pips

I, just in the past couple of weeks, have opened a demo acct with SystemRunner. I have had a difficult and confusing experience in trying to get the demo account understood and up and running. Sam spent a good hour or so on the phone with me and I thought I had some new clues about how to get going. I may be so new and unininformed thet this is just beyond me but I just don't get it. When I log into my trading account none of the directions contained in the getting started tutorials seem to work for me. One conundrum is the tutorial's direction to open my trading account while the tutorial is underway. I don't know how to do this. Other features described in the tutorial don't seem to come up or behave as described.

Is there anyone out there who has experienced the same kind of problems in getting this understood? I very much like the description of the SysteRunner format and would like to begin trading but so far I'm stumped!

If yoiu would like to keep your response off of the forum please contact me @ dalewhite@aol.com
thx
